Dinner with the girls (Guest Blogger)

OK, first night and while the room is quiet I am up trying to get some computer time but the internet service is down.

I slept for a good 3 to 4 hrs tonight, each time the girls twist

or turn I seem to wake to check and ensure they are ok.

Tonight was our first night out in the hotel restaurant to eat dinner.  I say this parent thing is throwing me for a loop, b/c I thought I had all bases covered and asked all the right questions, regarding nap time, bed time, dinner time, and snack time, however, as it got late the girls asked for pasta hmmm, I planned to take them w/me for dinner anyway and get a light snack for them, being I picked them up after dinner time at the orphanage.

W

ell u know how first time moms are, my babies get what my babies want ( in the voice of Vince

Vaugh from the Break-up) any way, we headed to the restaurant, and sat at the table for the first time as a family.  Ï‘The girls really get quiet when out in public and become amazed at all their surroundings.  I allowed them to order from the menu when I gave them a few choices(pasta w/meat sauce or pasta w/veggi

e sauce) thinking they were going for the meat sauce, they ordered the pasta w/the veggies!!! Yes!  I had pasta w/plain sauce and it was DELICIOUS!

They ate their food nicely, I had to help Shaddi, who could not

get the blowing of the hot food twisting of the pasta on the f

ork, and making it to her mouth all coordinated, and she loved e

very bit of all of mommies attention.

Helina on the other hand, sat there, and ate like a lady, I am sure if I was a betting women and looked under the table she wld have had her legs crossed w/her nap

kin in her lap!  She is so lady like!

At the end they both had fresh mango juice, which was very close to a smoothie, not knowing how big the glass was I shld have had them both share, but then again, I wld have gotten dirty looks and them mean mugging me, being the glasses flled w/this nectar sat on the table I just allowed to go ahead and drink their own.  They finished it all, in one steady sip, worried, and thinking to myself, that maybe momma shld not allow the girls to drink so much right before bed,(Smh AT MY MYSELF)  knock on wood as I type this the bed is DRY!!!

Friends......

hmmmm! house is quiet and clean, bags are repacked, time to relax and live my last days as a childless momma! BUT!!!!!!! I wanted to take some time to talk about the amazing people who have become apart of my life thru the AWESOME journey of adoption.....I get goose bumps each time I think of how each of you have played such an important role in my life and in my journey to my girls.

I can not say it enough, when I thought there was nothing left in me to stand you guys stood and filled in for me. When I needed you guys on your hands and knees praying for me, there was never any questions asked, just a simple, unconditional general love for a stranger that soon became sista friends to many of you. Not only am I bringing my daughters home to NJ, I can feel and see that they live in the homes, hearts, and thoughts of so many of you from so many places around the world that prayed to GOD for their journey to soon come to an end. I thank you, I thank you, I thank you!!!!!

I ask those who are still in the process, keep pushing and keep the faith

I ask those that are on the fence who waver regarding their adoption to keep the faith too, and make sure its good and strong and can't be broken over the first, second, third, twist b/c there will be trials and tribulations that will test you for sure.

I ask those who are home w/their kids, I got ya numbers on speed dial!!!!! b/c it surely takes a village to raise a child

I do not think there has been any thing in my life that has taken me to the depths of my soul, turned me around and made me click my heels three times, and say theres no place like home! other than "This Ethiopian Journey!" However, for my experience I am a better person, have developed a stronger relationship w/my Lord and Savior, and will be a better parent for it! I would not change not one thing about it, and know that is was NEVER my journey to write, it was all GOD"s plan for me, he just needed me to walk the walk.

Good Bless you all

Count Down!

Today I took the time to embed in my mind the quietness of the house! The noises that a house makes, that will soon be drowned out w/the laughter of two precious darlings running up and down the stairs, yelling Mommy, giggling, whispering, and doing what kids do best.

I am so looking forward to the moments when I can say sit down, no running, Mommy loves you, time for your bath, time for dinner, time to wake up, and most of all a bed time story at night w/a kiss from me on the forehead right before I tuck them in.

awwww! motherhood! so sweet!

Today I packed just a/b all that has to go into my suitcases.....

I plan to bring loads of things home so I am using all my baggage allowance fully

I will be working on the organization of my papers tomorrow and packing them

I need to stack the house w/simple food items but the snow won't allow for that. I sit here at 2 in the AM blogging and it still continues to snow. It has snowed for a full two days now and continues and will be snowing again on Monday

I know each time my heart jumps w/joy and excitement, I know the same can be said a/b my oldest daughter, Helina, a AP returned 2 wks ago and took a calendar to the girls so they could count down the days until my arrival, and she showed them how to count down and how to mark the calendar off each day, well Helina wld count and once she got to the date I am said to arrive on she would get really excited and say the number over and over again! so I am sure she is just as excited. Now for El Shaday, she is to young to know what is going on but I am sure big sister is keeping her informed.

Just like I needed to go and touch them and know it was real in Aug, I think the same thing needs to happen on this trip, I need to be on the plane headed back to the USA for it to really sink in.

At times I just get to chocked up w/emotion when I think a/b my whole entire journey even before my adoption process began. Trust me, it has truly been a journey!
