I say we take it back to the old school!!!

Free of Bisphenol and Phthalate
There is so much out there for parents to think about when rasing a child/children. I never thought in a million years I would have to think about the bottle my child will be drinking from. Well after watiching the news the other day I learned that there is a chemical that is in plastic that causes barin and neuro damage, when the plastic is heated in the microwave, on the stove, in the dish washer it causes the chemical to be released, not only in bottles but also plastic containers............Parents were being urged to use bottles that were free of the chemical or take it back to the old school, to the way your momma use to get that pot of boiling water ready on the stove and drop those glass bottles in the water to steralize them, mix that can milk w/hot water, and then let them cool, b/f putting them in the fridge............this entire experience could take a good hour to do a days worth of bottles. I went on line and found these chemical free bottles.............www.greentogrow.com

They are expensive as hell.................I may just have to take it back to the old school w/the hot boiling water, and the glass bottles ritual.

The Ethiopian Flag

The flag of Ethiopia consists of three equal horizontal stripes - the top stripe is green; the middle is yellow; and the bottom stripe is red.
In the middle of the flag is the country's coat of arms on a blue circle. It is often seen without the blue circle and emblem.Ethiopian Flag Meaning:
The colored stripes on the Ethiopian flag are significant - the red stripe stands for power, faith and blood; the yellow symbolizes the church, peace, natural wealth and love; and the green represents the land and hope. The colors were also interpreted to have a connection to the Holy Trinity, and the three main provinces of Ethiopia. The star represents unity of the people and the races that make up Ethiopia. The five rays on the outside of the star represent prosperity and the blue disk represents peace.

Prayer Changes Things

I'm happy to report that my Aunt Sherial is awake, talking and no longer on a breathing tube. Praise GOD!!!

Prayer does change things.................

A Quick Look At The International Adoption Process

Home Study - An unscientific study of your emotional and psychological fitness conducted by a social worker. It is all summed up in a report that includes information about your childhood, finances, illnesses (both mental and physical) and a physical look at your home. You'll never get a I-171 without it.

I-600A - An advanced orphan petition that you send to Homeland Security to get approval for bringing a child into the country. Please send check, marriage license, birth certificate and make sure that they are all certified originals.

I-171 - What you anxiously hope will come in the mail and what you would gladly pay extra to have expedited. It says that you have the official green-light of the government to bring a child into the country. It's the answer to the I-600A petition that they also cable directly to the country. It is the gold ticket at the Willie Wonka Chocolate Factory.

CIS - Is the Homeland Security immigration department that processes your I-600A and I-171 too slowly.

Dossier - An elegant sounding name for a big stack of papers that require more paperwork that must sign, notarize, get certified, and get authenticated. I love that when you get a document notarized that then you have to trek to the Secretary of State or some government office so that the clerk behind the class window can examine the notary stamp and then certify or authenticate it.

Approved! - Maybe it is not a new word but it has real meaning now. You wait to have your initial application APPROVED, your home study APPROVED, your health status APPROVED, your I-171 APPROVED and your dossier APPROVED in both countries.

Referral - The word that we care most about, wait the longest to hear, think will never come, and is the answer to our prayers. If you're not waiting for one then it is the notification and identification of the child that we we will be adopting. It includes pictures, medical records, and history.

Court Date - This is a good court date provided everything goes through. It is the day that the Ethiopian courts finalize the adoption.

Travel Date - The date we wait for after waiting for the referral and court date. Can I please just go and get my kids? You can when you get an official travel date. But, you won't get the travel date until an Embassy date has been established.

Visa - It is what you fly half-way around the world to make it on time to the Embassy date to pick up. This is the visa that we get that allows the children to come home to the states. It's what you get when you get in country after you've gotten your referral, your court date, and travel date and after you've loaded too much of the wrong stuff and not enough of the right stuff in your suitcases. It is the first official thing that you do with the new children in their country.

**Note*** Listing the steps in order makes adoption seem so easy, but believe me when I say, this is a very intense, emotional, and looooong process.

Still Prayerful

Here in NC, and my aunt Sherial is still in critical condition, however for the last few days she has been able to say our names and talk. Still a bit confused, but will hold our hands, and told me today, she loved me. :)

She is a fighter, I have faith, a friend of mine would say "unbreakable faith" Everyday is such a battle for her, but she is hanging in there. With all of GOD's children, praying hard, she has nothing but angels surrounding her. GOD is good all the time, and nothing happens without his permission.

Boy or Girl? hmmmmmmm....not telling

But I like these finds!!!

The music on the blog

OK, those that have viewed my blog have asked about the music selections I have playing, and to tell the truth I thought it was a silly question, but there is no such thing as a silly question.

Yes this blog is dedicated to the journey of a new chapter that will be written in my life for years to come. However, before adoption became an option, there have been many other chapters in my life that have been written, celebrated, rewritten, closed w/lock and key, or simply remain open w/o resolve, good and bad, mostly good. When I look back on my book of life which is mostly sparked by a song or melody I hear while driving in the car listening to the radio,it makes me laugh and think of the times I've had alone, with friends, and loved ones.

So here I bless you with the many sounds of music, both secular and spiritual I have enjoyed during my existence.

PAPER CHASING AIN'T NO JOKE!!!!!!

I love pics and icons. You can just paste a picture and/or an icon that can speak volumes of how you're feeling at the present time.

Those of you that have been there or those that are in the process know what I am talking a/b. Those that don't, just look at the picture and take a guess!!!!
